The recently released album by Nigerian artist Yemi Alade is about to receive a makeover. Titled Mama Africa (and subtitled, The Diary of an African Woman) the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards Best Female’s sophomore effort is about to be updated for a forthcoming deluxe version.

The singer’s record label, Effyzzie Music, has announced that the new version will be released internationally on Wednesday 6 April.

While the original version featured artists from the around the continent, the deluxe version adds cameos from yet more African performers. Kenyan group Sauti Sol and Ivorian artist DJ Arafat featured on the first version, as did Ghana’s Sarkodie and Nigeria’s P-Square and Flavour. Frequent collaborator Selebobo, who doubles as producer, was also included on the album. With East and West Africa already represented on original, Ms Alade has headed to the southern part of the continent for the deluxe version, by featuring South African artists AKA and Bucie.

A newly released tracklist puts the total number of songs at 21, six more than the original version.

“The deluxe edition of Mama Africa will be sold physically in stores internationally,” Effyzzie Music announced. “It can also be ordered via Amazon and will be shipped to you irrespective of your location. Just like the standard edition of the LP, Yemi Alade will give proceeds from the deluxe album sales to charity via the #FeedAChild initiative.”

The deluxe version of Mama Africa is Yemi Alade’s second recent audio project, following the release of the Looking for my Johnny visual album in late 2015. Her original Mama Africa album has produced two hit singles so far, ‘Na Gode’ and highlife number ‘Ferrari’.
