Kenyan-born, Australia-based artist Elsy Wameyo is set to embark on her Australian tour, Mission Export 254, following a powerful homecoming performance at the Kilele Summit 2025 in Nairobi.
The five-day event, held from 18 to 22 February, brought together music, technology, and innovation, with Wameyo taking the stage as part of the Kilele Showcase, supported by the Australian High Commission in Kenya.
Wameyo, known for her fusion of soul-infused hip hop and alt-R&B, has gained international acclaim through her 2022 EP Nilotic and her debut album Saint Sinner (2024), recorded in Kenya. Her latest project, featuring tracks such as ‘Umva’ and ‘Conquer’, reflects her bold artistic identity and fearless storytelling.
Now, as she prepares for Mission Export 254, Wameyo will be joined by her Kenyan band for performances at some of Australia’s most prestigious festivals, including WOMADelaide, Port Fairy Folk Festival, and Brunswick Music Festival. With a track record of sharing stages with global stars like Burna Boy, Tierra Whack, Sampa The Great, and Aminé, she continues to expand her influence on the international music scene.
The Australian High Commission in Kenya has been instrumental in supporting Kilele Summit’s FEMX programme, an initiative that promotes non-male artists and femme-led projects. The growing collaboration between Kenya and Australia has created new platforms for artists like Wameyo, reinforcing the power of cultural exchange in the music industry.
As she prepares to take her Kenyan sound to Australia, Wameyo embodies the essence of artistic innovation and global connectivity that Kilele Summit champions.
Elsy Wameyo’s 2025 Australian tour dates:
- Brunswick Music Festival – 7 March
- Port Fairy Folk Festival – 8 March
- WOMADelaide (Taste the World) – 9 March
