Abuja-born singer and songwriter Ru (Ruth Unde) will release her new single ‘Woman’ on 26 September.
The track follows her debut single ‘I Think I Love U’ and its remix featuring Nigerian artist Magixx, which together have recorded millions of streams.
Produced by Mr Eff and mixed and mastered by Johnny Drille, Woman blends Afrobeats, pop and soul. According to Ru, the song highlights themes of strength, resilience and individuality.
The single is released under Faceless, a Nigerian label and creative hub known for collaborative projects across genres. The label previously worked on Venus with Serotonin.
Ru’s music draws on her upbringing in Abuja and incorporates Afrobeats rhythms alongside pop melodies and soul influences. With Woman, she joins a tradition of Nigerian female musicians addressing empowerment, with past examples including Ayra Starr’s ‘Woman Command’o, Simi’s ‘Woman’ and Yemi Alade’s ‘African Woman’.
‘Woman’ will be available on all major streaming platforms from 26 September.
