The 23rd edition of the Sauti za Busara music festival will take place in Stone Town, Zanzibar, from 5 to 8 February 2026. The annual event, organised by Busara Promotions, will feature a wide range of artists from across Africa and the diaspora, continuing its tradition of showcasing 100% live performances.

Founded in 2003, Sauti za Busara has become one of East Africa’s leading cultural events, celebrating African music and promoting cross-cultural dialogue. The 2026 edition will mark the debut of Malian icon Salif Keita, known as the “Golden Voice of Africa.” His performance will highlight his distinctive blend of traditional mandingue rhythms and contemporary sound. Keita is also recognised for his advocacy for people with albinism, aligning with the festival’s social impact objectives.

Festival director Journey Ramadhan said Keita’s participation reflects the event’s mission to celebrate Africa’s cultural heritage while supporting progressive voices.

The festival’s line-up will feature more than 20 countries, with confirmed artists including Ben Pol, Man Fongo, and Alamokha (Tanzania); Pilani Bubu and Malcolm Jiyane (South Africa); Lindigo (Réunion); Sousou & Maher Cissoko (Senegal and Sweden); Kara Sylla & Baye Fall Band (Switzerland); Atanda & Afrojazz Messengers (Nigeria and UK); La Carmen Y Su Familia Musical (Colombia); Mehmet Polat Quartet (Netherlands); and Rajab Suleiman & Kithara (Zanzibar), among others.

According to Busara Promotions managing director Lorenz Herrmann, the festival has been extended to four days to provide more performance opportunities, boost local business activity, and attract more visitors to the island. “We wanted to increase the economic impact for local enterprises and ensure visitors experience Zanzibar at its best,” Herrmann said.
