Kenya: Africa Nouveau Festival 2019 announces line-up

A diverse line-up and a host exciting activities have been announced for the third edition of Africa Nouveau Festival at Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi, Kenya, from 8 to 10 March.

This year the festival will run under the theme, Africans and Outer World Beings.  

The organisers said the festival would seeks to employ different art forms to investigate the historical understanding and relationship of Africans to outer-world beings, and forecast an imaginary future where Africans have reconnected with ancient knowledge systems.

Africa Nouveau’s Flora Valleur said the festival would feature performers from Senegal, Uganda, Cameroon and the Central African Republic, among other countries.

“We are excited and honoured to be part of this amazing artistic experience,” she said. “Africa Nouveau Festival not only brings extraordinary talent from Kenya but also highlights the many brilliant, young emerging artists from across the African continent.”

The festival will feature 25 live performers working in fashion, film, photography, installation art and virtual reality gaming.

Kenyan musicians confirmed to play include H_art the Band, Bengatronics, the Dagoz Gang, the Kaya CollectiveKarun, DJ Vidza, Nairobi Horns Project, Cheif & the Marshalls and DJ Suraj. International musicians are Boddhi Satva (Central African Republic), Sho Madjozi (South Africa), Faizal Ddaba Mostrixx (Uganda), Cortega (Switzerland/Senegal), Ibaaku (Senegal), Franck Biyong (Cameroon), Buruntuma (Guinea-Bissau), Batuk (South Africa), Alec (DRC) and DJ Sisso & Rehema Tajiri (Tanzania).

Africa Nouveau also announced that the festival will be cashless environment, where festivalgoers will use a preloaded wristband to purchase various items.

The 2019 edition of Africa Nouveau Festival is organised by Good Times Africa in partnership with the British Council, Goethe-Institut, the French Embassy, HomeBoyz Radio, Muze and Music In Africa.
