2017 Metro FM Awards nominees announced

Nominees for the 2017 Metro FM Music Awards have been announced. The announcement took place at The Forum in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

Amanda Black

Afro-soul songstress Amanda Black, 24, leads the pack with five nominations. Black’s 2016 album Amazulu earns her nominations in the Best Pop‚ Best Female Album‚ Best New Artist‚ Best R&B and Song of the Year categories.

Babes Wodumo and rapper Nasty C come in second place with four nominations each. Babes Wodumo will go against Black, Kelly Khumalo‚ Lebo Sekgobela and Brenda Mntambo in the Best Female Album category. Nasty C is up against KwestaSjava‚ Mobi Dixon and A Reece in the Best Male Album category.

Nigeria’s Tekno and Botswana’s Vee Mampeezy are among nominees for the One Africa Award, Metro FM Awards’ only international category.

Following last year’s “Legends Don’t Stop, They Ask What’s Next,” this year’s theme is, “What’s Next Is All that Matters.”
