Nigerian rapper Olamide is set to headline a concert in London. The concert, organised by SMADE, is scheduled to hold at the Troxy venue.
The arrangement may be curious for some fans of the rapper. Because he has made comments expressing reluctance at performing overseas, saying some promoters may be unable to afford his rates. He’ll rather perform within Nigeria for higher fees than play the UK for a smaller fee, he said on last album Street OT. With the concert holding on 25 October, it appears an agreement has been reached.
‘SMADE is the number one promoter in the UK for African music,’ the rapper said, adding that SMADE sells ‘out venues the right way and we at YBNL Nation are proud to be working together once again.’
Accompanying Olamide, who played the highly successful Olamide in Concert in Lagos last year, are other members of the YBNL Nation crew, namely, Lil Kesh, Chinko Ekun, DJ Enimoney and ‘Sade’ crooner Adekunle Gold. Olamide’s frequent collaborator Phyno is expected to make a guest appearance at the event. UK Comedian Eddie Kadi and Nigerian radio personality Dotun host the event while UK live band The Compozers will back up the rapper.
