Olamide is YouTube’s most watched Nigerian artist in 2015

Popular video streaming service YouTube has produced a list of top 10 music videos for 2015. The results put a single foreign artist among a number of Nigerian artists, with rapper Olamide earning a whopping four spots on the year end compilation.
The rapper’s ‘Bobo’, a single from his recently released fifth album Eyan Mayweather, emerged number 1. ‘Falila Ketan’ from 2014’s Street OT was the rapper’s second entry on the list and fifth overall. ‘Melo Melo’ and ‘Lagos Boys’ come in at 8 and 9 respectively. 2015 has been a great year for Olamide. He headlined a London concert, won an AFRIMA award, emerged the Future Award winner for entertainment and in doing so has garnered won attention. In terms of his music careers, the singer released a collaborative album with fellow rapper Phyno and then, as mentioned, his own 2015 solo effort Eyan Mayweather was released weeks ago.
Singer Flavour’s duet with Chidinma ‘Ololufe’ from the album Thankful comes in at second place. PSquare’s collaboration with producer Don Jazzy ‘Collabo’ taken from the album Double Trouble is the Nigeria’s third most played video on the YouTube platform.
Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again, from the Fast and Furious 7 soundtrack, comes in at number 4. The American rapper is the sole foreign artist represented on the list. Kiss Daniel’s Woju remix is sixth. The video for Wizkid’s much celebrated ‘Ojuelegba’ is placed 7.
Capping the list is ‘Fans Mi’, the Davido song featuring US rapper Meek Mill.
YouTube turned 10 this year, launching a consideration of the year’s memes. Also, a YouTube Trending Tab has been added to the YouTube app. The addition showcases videos popular on the YouTube platform.
