National Eisteddfod of South Africa is calling on performers in music, dance and theatre to submit their entries to perform at designated locations in their communities from August to October.
The project, which is intended for school pupils and young people in South Africa, provides a national platform where the best performers will get to compete and showcase their talent.
A team of adjudicators will visit different communities in the Limpopo, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces to select participants who will compete at the Top Achievers Galla in Johannesburg this November.
The winners will be given certificates and various prizes.
The deadline for activities to be adjudicated in August and early September is 30 June. Regional activities that will be adjudicated in mid-September and early October bear a deadline of 31 July.
Any individual or institution may register and submit applications online via the National Eisteddfod website.
Requirements
- Parents/individuals may not use or change the account of a school/studio to register or to submit entries.
- Parents/individuals should register independently and only need to link their profiles/entries to a school when needed for the acknowledgement of achievements on school level.
Applicants who wish to submit entries in the music category will choose to perform in any of the following sections:
“The National Eisteddfod does not only provide opportunities to well-serviced communities but continuously strive to extend opportunities as wide as possible,” the organisers said.
The project is funded by the National Lotteries Commission and designed to foster awareness and pride of South Africa's multicultural diversity.
