The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) has extended the application deadline for the 2026 Nyoloha Scholarship Programme (NSP) to 27 April 2026, citing the school holiday period and the need to allow more time for prospective applicants.
The programme targets emerging South African artists in the performing, visual and digital arts, and supports tertiary study in accredited institutions from 2027.
About the scholarship
Now in its fifth edition, the ACT Nyoloha Scholarship Programme is supported by Nedbank, Sun International and the MTN Foundation. It offers:
- Two annual scholarships valued at R300 000 each
- Funding for tuition and study materials
- Entry into a structured four-month mentorship and skills development programme
- Guidance from industry professionals across the arts sector
The initiative also includes auditions, portfolio reviews and a final showcase where selected participants present their work.
Application details
- New closing date: 27 April 2026
- Who can apply: South African emerging artists aged 17–25 who qualify for tertiary study
- Disciplines: Acting, singing, dance, visual arts and digital arts
- Application platform: act.org.za/nyoloha
ACT has also encouraged schools, community organisations and arts groups to host in-person open call sessions. Requests for visits can be sent to info@act.org.za or marketing@act.org.za.
These sessions are intended to provide guidance on eligibility, application requirements and submission processes.
ACT says the programme is designed to provide both training and long-term career pathways in South Africa’s creative industries through mentorship, networking and performance opportunities.
Call to applicants
ACT has urged eligible candidates to apply within the extended timeframe and make use of available support channels to strengthen their submissions.
