BIO

Mbwana Mtulia, best known by his stage name Dbass ganun is a talented Tanzanian basslist and Qanun (Ganun) player whose passion for music began in primary school. He was born in 1988 in Dar-es-salaam. Dbass was raised in a musical family. His father was a musician and he taught him music. When his father passed away, his mother took over the responsibility of advising him on music-related issues. He was raised in a popular tribe called Ndengeleko in Rufiji. He grew up playing different styles of Tanzania traditional music.

In 2000, he joined aDira Arts group. In 2005, he joined a music group called Mwela band. In 2008, he joined Dhow Countries Music Academy (DCMA) and participated in several workshops such as Music Crossroads in Zambia and Zimbabwe, Umoja Cultural flying carpet in Ethiopia and African Tour and Swahili Vibes band in Zanzibar.

He has also performed in different festivals such Sauti Za Busara Music Festival and Zanzibar International Film Festival (Ziff) DOADOA show in Kampala Uganda case etc.

He has performed with a number of musicians from South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Norway, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Ethiopia.
