A special live performance workshop for musicians, sound engineers, music producers, instrumentalists, event organisers and other key players will take place on 20 November at the National Theatre in Accra, Ghana.

MUSIGA president Bice Osei Kuffour.

The workshop is titled the Ghana International Music Clinic (GIMC) and the facilitator will be American vocal fx engineer and producer Carl Golembeski.

Participants at the workshop will be taught how to own the stage and deliver a great performance.

The workshop has been organised by the Institute of Professional Event Management (IPEM), which was founded by Nii Armah Addy.

Andy told the Kumikasa website that he was confident the clinic would offer participants an opportunity to sharpen their technical skills.

“What is lacking in Ghanaian music is the ability to translate studio excellence into real live music performance to give the audience an amazing experience at shows,” he said.

“Ghanaian musicians spend so much time and money in the studio to produce excellent tracks yet the same quality of sound is not felt in their live performances. Now that CD sales have decreased, musicians’ ability to perform well at a live concert is what endears them to organisers and the audience.”

According to Ghana Web, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) through its outgoing president Bice Osei Kuffour has endorsed the event and encouraged local stakeholders to attend. Kuffour said that such an initiative would improve the standard of live performances in Ghana and the sub-region.

Golembeski is the vocal effect fx engineer of Beyoncé. He has previously toured with artists such as Bruno Mars, Carlinhos Brown and Mary J Blige. In May 2019, Golembeski spoke at the fifth edition of the Live Event Technical Production Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
