Call for applications: Studio residency in Switzerland

Pro Helvetia Johannesburg, in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, is accepting applications for its 2020 Pro Helvetia studio residency in Switzerland.
The three-month residency aims to assist participants to find inspiration, establish networks and contemplate new projects and collaborations. Selected participants will be provided with a chance to gain broad insight into a different cultural environment.
The application deadline is 1 March 2020.
Eligibility
Artists and cultural practitioners in the areas of music, literature, visual arts, multidisciplinary art, digital media, theatre and dance are eligible to apply. Applicants may benefit three times in total from a Pro Helvetia studio residency.
Applicants should be from the following countries:
- Angola
- Botswana
- Democratic Republic of Congo
- Lesotho
- Madagascar
- Malawi
- Mauritius
- Mozambique
- Namibia
- Seychelles
- South Africa
- Swaziland
- Tanzania (including Zanzibar)
- Zambia
- Zimbabwe
Selection criteria
Eligible artists should:
- Have a convincing track record: professional activity extending beyond local/regional level.
- Have a clear and contextually relevant motivation.
- Have adequate and relevant foreign language skills.
Remuneration
Selected artists will receive the following support:
- A place to work.
- Accommodation.
- Advice and practical support.
- Costs of travel, insurance and per diem expenses.
- Production costs can be covered to some extent, upon request
