Paul and Peter Okoye, the twin brothers making up the duo P-Square are sitting atop a list of richest Nigerian singers compiled by Naij.com. According to the report, the singers of hit songs such as ‘Chop My Money’, ‘Personally’ and ‘Do Me’, are worth 128 million US dollars.

According to a report, P-Square is Nigeria's richest singer

Since showing up on the music scene after winning the Benson & Hedges talent show in 2001, the brothers have amassed a massive following in their home country and outside. The results may not be surprising given that music videos from the duo on YouTube have combined views of several millions of views and their songs are chanted from Calabar to Cape Town. This popularity translates into a high asking price for shows and premium endorsements. The report refers to them as ‘the Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi of African music’.

Coming in at second place is producer Don Jazzy. With estimated earnings at 35 million dollars, less than half the Okoye twins’, it is a considerable berth from first to second place. Highlife singer Flavour ($28.5), erstwhile Don Jazzy acolyte D’Banj ($25 million) and 2Face Idibia ($22.5 million) complete the top 5 earners list.

The report makes no mention as to how it arrived by these figures as Nigerian entertainers, save for social media self-promotion, are reluctant to divulge information related to their finances. Yet the top three spots, especially the summit occupied by P-Square, are likely to remain unchallenged.
