Following the recent release of his third music project Lagos to London, Mr Eazi has released a documentary.

Mr Eazi has released a documentary named after his Lagos to London project.

Lagos to London: The Documentary presents interviews featuring Mr Eazi himself and an assortment of music industry professionals in Nigeria and outside of the country.

The documentary interviewees – including Sony Music’s Michael Ugwu, A&R man Bizzle Osikoya and DJ Jimmy Jatt – speak about the Nigerian music industry and its growing influence in global pop music.

Clocking at just over 20 minutes, the documentary also covers the rise of Mr Eazi from “selling phones” to his current status as a Nigerian music popstar performing at venues around the world including the cities appearing in the titles of his last two music projects: Lagos, Accra and London.

“It’s so funny: My music started out in Ghana, moved to the UK and then to Nigeria,” he recently told Rolling Stone magazine in an interview published online. “To this day, the UK is my Number One streaming location on Apple Music and Spotify.”

The documentary also talks about the difference between the music scenes in mainland and island Lagos and also the city’s general live scene, with Mr Eazi mentioning the popular concert series Afropolitan Vibes. This bit was spotted by Abby Ogunsanya, who indicated that she had seen the documentary on her social media account.

“I really, really love this documentary…” the Afropolitan Vibes co-producer wrote, posting a link to the Rolling Stone piece on the documentary. “When it comes to marketing, Mr Eazi clearly has the best team out there. I am a sucker for things done well and this is done very well indeed. He also name checks Afropolitan Vibes.”

Meanwhile, Mr Eazi’s latest album has found success online: “79+ million streams and counting. That’s how many times you guys have listened to tracks from the new mixtape Lagos to London in its first 3 weeks. Thank you for coming on this journey with me,” Mr Eazi wrote on Facebook yesterday, closing the post with his popular self-coined word: “Zagadat”.
