Ghanaian DJ-producer Dredw and Afro-soul singer Essilfie today announced a joint EP called Luv Lyf. The project is available for streaming and download on all digital platforms.

The five-song project, which took a year to complete, caters to the theme of romantic love, exploring its various facets. It comprises the songs ‘So Sweet’, ‘Body’, ‘Ride (I Luv It)’, ‘Say My Name’ and ‘Hittin’.

Speaking to Music In Africa, Dredw disclosed that the partnership is the result of a fruitful creative adventure that saw them funnel their growing popularity in local music circles into a collection geared toward “revitalising listeners’ imagination.”

On the direction of the project, Dredw, who lauded Essilfie’s “great work ethic” as a singer and songwriter, said: “We wanted to make some sweet but unique music that fits every mood.

“Compiling the EP was quite a challenge because there were so many great songs at our disposal, so it was hard to make a selection but we made sure fans got the best of the best. It has been long overdue and we’re glad the fans were patient enough. It is our wish that they enjoy it.”

Born Winfred Ametepe, Dredw started making beats as a hobby in 2008 before pursuing it professionally in 2012. He has worked with leading Ghanaian musicians and is behind multiple staples in Ghana’s alternative circles.

Essilfie, on the other hand, has amassed a group of loyal fans in love with her sultry vocals and experimental approach to music. Earlier this year, she was awarded a grant by the British Council in Accra as part of the maiden Creative Enterprise Support Programme.
