Nigerian Afrobeats singer Davido has released his fourth album Timeless. The 17-track offering, his first studio release since 2020’s A Better Time, is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
Timeless, released on Columbia, boasts features from a number of prominent musicians such as fellow Nigerians Asake and The Cavemen, Grammy-winning Benenise legend Angelique Kidjo, South Africa’s Focalistic and British-Nigerian rapper Skepta, among others.
Thematically, the project explores the concept of time through themes like love, pain and joy, across a blend of popular genres including highlife and Afrobeats, as well as dancehall, and the in-vogue-South Africa-born amapiano sound.
Ahead of the LP, Davido described the project as “a body of work that goes beyond fashion and trends; it’s an authentic body of work that remains true to my core as an artist, using my music to bring joy to my fans across the world. The songs you hear today will be just as relevant tomorrow, that’s why it’s timeless.”
“At long last, we are back,” he said announcing the project’s arrival. “The journey from my last album to this album has been a whirlwind, to say the least. I recall sitting and staring over the ocean not too long ago, wondering if I could get here again, after all, I’ve been through… but with your love and support, we made it. I’m not sure what comes after this but I wanted to give you my heart, soul and energy.”
Davido boasts an extensive catalogue that finds him nestling among a cohort of highly successful Nigerian musicians in the digital era, starting with well-received collections like Omo Baba Olowo (2012) and A Good Time (2019). He is behind numerous global hits such as ‘Aye’, ‘If’ and ‘Fall’. Additionally, he boasts collaborations with everyone from Kenya’s Sauti Sol to Ghana’s KiDi, and American stars like Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby, Young Thug and Nas.
