South African house music producer and DJ Trigo has released a new EP titled Gracefully Broken.
The six-track project is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms.
According to the artist, Gracefully Broken is a solo project that incorporates sampled vocals from various artists. The EP is thematically influenced by personal experiences and life challenges, as well as the song Gracefully Broken by US gospel artist Tasha Cobbs Leonard. Trigo describes the concept of being “broken” as a process of personal transformation rather than harm.
“My music journey is built on belief held long before results appeared,” Trigo said. “Progress was uneven. Losses outnumbered wins. Doubt surfaced often, not as weakness but as a natural response to prolonged pressure.”
He added that the project represents a turning point in his artistic journey: “Gracefully Broken marks the phase where struggle finished shaping me, before arrival, before validation, but after commitment became irreversible… Sometimes you have to go back to the roots so you can remember what it felt like again.”
With nearly two decades of experience, Trigo continues to contribute to the development of South African deep house, a genre that has gained international recognition as a defining element of the country’s electronic music identity.
Born in Johannesburg, Trevor Lebogang Letsoalo, professionally known as Trigo, has been active in music production, remixing and performance since 2005. His work is rooted in deep house, characterised by rhythmic grooves and soul-influenced compositions, and draws on the traditions of South Africa’s underground electronic music scene.
