ACT announces 2017 scholarship finalists

The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) has announced the 12 finalists who were selected for the 2017 edition of the trust’s scholarship grant.
Funded by the Nedbank Arts Affinity and the Dramatic, Artistic and Literary Rights Organisation (DALRO), the scholarships are designed for South African performers in Grade 12 and aspirant performers under the age of 30 who are not currently registered in any course.
These 12 finalists will come together on 7 October to be judged by well-respected industry professionals. The winners were drawn from different categories: singing, musical theatre, acting and dance. The search was conducted across all nine provinces and all the finalists will have the chance to compete against each other within their respective categories.

Singing
- Brian Makena
- Mia Havenga
- Mampho Letsie
Musical Theatre
- Hlumelo Yawa
- Cailan van Heerden
- Caleb Felix
Dance
- David Robert Maluleka
- Sithembele Dotwana
- Fezeka Shandu Tholakele
Acting
- Mosehlana (Mosie) Mamaregane
- Wonder Ndlovu
- Chad Baai
“We are very excited about this year’s scholarships programme as it has afforded us a chance to showcase four disciplines and we are looking forward to growing it year on year,” ACT CEO Marcus Desando said in a press statement.
