Organisers of the African Music Business Dialogue (AMBD) have confirmed the 2024 edition for 22 March in Accra, Ghana.

AMBD founder Enoch ‘Trigmatic’ Nana Yaw Oduro-Agyei.

The annual event is the brainchild of rapper Enoch ‘Trigmatic’ Nana Yaw Oduro-Agyei, with the goal of highlighting African music and professionals in the sector. It also serves as a platform for fostering constructive discussions about the future of African music.

Running under the theme Our Sound, Our Identity, Our Revenue: Collaboration, Innovation, and Global Impact of African Music, this year’s edition follows two previous events held in Ghana in April 2022 and Zambia in April 2023. It will take place at the GIPC 4th Floor Conference Hall.

According to organisers, the AMBD 2024 aims to continue the important discussions from previous editions, focusing on topics such as the business of music and best practices. Past AMBDs have also addressed revenue generation for all players in the value chain while uncovering untapped opportunities. Additionally, the seminar has traced the evolution of Ghana’s music industry, its expanding festival culture, and the nation’s role as a tourism hub propelled by a thriving music scene.

AMBD traditionally comprises panel discussions, workshops, a showcase, an exhibition and networking opportunities for attendees.

“Combining rhythms of our diverse continent, African music transcends borders, empowering artists, driving innovation, and leaving an indelible mark on the global stage,” Oduro-Agyei said, adding that the summit will offer a platform for “collaboration, innovation and global impact converge to shape the future of African music.”

Previous AMBD speakers include Afro Nation Ghana festival boss and The Rave Group CEO Ruddy Kwakye, sound engineer and producer Kofi ‘IamBeatMenace’ Boachie-Ansah, creative entrepreneur George Nii Ofoli Yartey, veteran producer and label exec Panji Anoff, Ugandan TV presenter and music PR expert Sheila Gashumba among others.
