Call for applications: IMPACT conference in Abidjan

The second edition of the IMPACT Music Conference will be held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on 19 and 20 April. The conference is a platform for the latest ideas in music and technology. If you are a young creative or music entrepreneur using digital tools in the music sector, then the organisers want to hear from you! Selected ideas will have a chance to pitch to a community of music- and creative industry experts.
The second edition of the IMPACT Music Conference is themed ‘Music, Tech, and new business models in Africa’. The conference will take place on the sidelines of Anoumabo Urban Music Festival (Festival des musiques urbaines d’Anoumabo - FEMUA) in Abidjan. It will consist of two days of discussions, debates, round tables and workshops with some of the best industry specialists in music, the creative industries and entrepreneurship. IMPACT will present the best initiatives in the fields of music and related technology, with a view to developing the Africa musical sector in terms of creation, production, distribution and consumption.
The conference is hosted by the African Music Development Programme (AMDP), under the International Music Council (IMC). The first edition of the IMPACT conference took place during the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) in Zimbabwe in April 2015.
How to apply
If you are a young entrepreneur or creative and use new technologies to innovate in the music industry, you are invited to submit papers for possible selection - and even get the chance to come to Abidjan present your project to a jury of experts, and to meet colleagues from across Africa in a unique setting, with the costs of transport and accommodation covered for applicants from abroad.

In order to be selected, applications need to present a new idea or concept (less than 3 years old) that is focused on the music industry or the creative industries in general. It needs to be innovative and creative, based in Africa and with a strong potential for development. The deadline for applications is 1 March 2016. The results will be announnced at the end of March.
