French music trade show Midem is calling on artists, songwriters and producers for an opportunity to engage with specialists from Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) on 7 June in Cannes, France.
During the session, the Universal representatives will talk about the role of music publishers in today's industry and how it has evolved in recent times. They will also give artists, songwriters and producers advice on how to increase their chances of securing a publishing deal, how to grow their brand locally and internationally, and how to generate revenue in the rapid music ecosystem.
This call is part of the Midem Artist Accelerator programme, which aims to grow the profiles of artists globally through masterclasses and networking sessions with leading industry players.
“In today’s globalised music economy, artists are in need of guidance and inspiration to develop innovation, adaptability, artistic freedom and to create new business models and fresh ways to interact with fans,” the Midem website reads.
Midem has also involved Muzooka, an online hub from which artists and their teams manage their media assets across multiple platforms, in the application process for the UMPG session.
The application deadline is 1 April and successful candidates will be informed via email before the end of April.
Requirements
To be considered, applicants should:
- Be above 18 years old.
- Be an individual artist or a band.
- Have a dedicated professional supporting team (manager, label, agent etc.)
- Have a complete artist profile on the Muzooka website.
Interested individuals are advised to read the guidelines here before submitting their online application here.
