31 Jan 2017 - 12:44
The Independent Music Exporters South Africa (IMEXSA) is now accepting submissions for participation at the Primavera music festival in Spain, and the Midem music event in France.
This call is designed for companies that sell or make music products: record labels, music/video studios, music promotion companies, music retailers, music publishers and so on.
To apply, interested parties are required to download and complete an application form from the IMEXSA website.
Completed forms together with the required documentations are to be submitted via email to IMEXSA. Successful companies will get the chance to sell their products overseas. IMEXSA focuses on the development and increase in the number of music exporters in South Africa by identifying trade opportunities and assisting companies to take advantage of those opportunities.
Interested parties should provide a valid tax clearance certificate as part of the application package. It is also the responsibility of each applicant to always have a valid tax clearance if requested. The application process could take up to six months hence all applicants are advised to immediately apply for a new certificate if theirs expires. IMEXSA can at any stage of the application process request an applicant to resubmit a tax clearance if theirs has expired. Failure to submit an updated one could result in the application being declined.
Successful applicants will be required to pay a commitment fee of about R2000 ($147.46). They will also need to pay for their visa applications and insurance. Only flights, accommodation, exhibition costs and conference registrations will be paid for successful applicants.
Supported by Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GDDA) and funded by the Department of Trade and Industry, IMEXSA has been operating over the past seven years. In this time, it has participated in and presented South African unsigned and independent music professionals at Popkomm (Germany), WOMEX (UK), Primavera Pro (Spain), Canada Music Weekin in Toronto, MIDEM (France), CMJ (US) and South by Southwest (SXSW) (US).
Export ready enterprises are encouraged to apply and stand a chance of being part of the selected delegates to attend these international exhibitions.
The deadline for this call is Friday, 10 February 2017. Full details on which documents are required and where to submit them, are on the website. All documents should be submitted electronically. For music samples, applicants should include online links to their music.
