The Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) will hold its fourth annual general meeting (AGM) in Kumasi on 23 October. The meeting will be streamed live on YouTube and on the collective management organisation’s website.

GHAMRO chairperson Rex Omar.

Established under Section 49 of the Copyright Law, GHAMRO operates with the mandate of collecting and distributing royalties on behalf of authors, composers and other rights owners. The body also seeks to protect, promote and develop the collection and distribution of music royalties, foster music creation and promote the value of music to the creative, cultural and business sectors of Ghana.

Due to state-sanctioned restrictions on public gatherings as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will accommodate only 100 members. The rest will join virtually, GHAMRO CEO Abraham Adjatey said.

At the meeting, the reports of the directors and auditors for 2018-19 will be received and considered for approval. Proposed changes from regional meetings on a new draft constitution will also be approved for inclusion. Additionally, the meeting will see the selection of an election committee further to the adopted constitution.

To be admitted to the meeting, members are required to bring their AGM brochure. Voting members who are unable to attend may appoint a proxy who may not necessarily be a member of the society.

Proxy forms can be downloaded here. Completed forms should be emailed to info@ghamro.org or deposited at any of GHAMRO’s regional offices no later than 48 hours before the date of the meeting.
