Ghanaian singer Gyakie has announced a new single titled ‘Rent Free’. The song is available for streaming and download across major digital platforms, with the accompanying music video set for release on 1 November.

The track marks her first solo release since her widely acclaimed 2022 EP My Diary, and explores the intricate layers of love and longing.

In ‘Rent Free’ Gyakie delves into the complexities of romance and paints a picture of a love that refuses to fade away. The song captures the universal sentiment of holding onto cherished memories, even when the relationship has ended.

“Gyakie’s ability to blend vulnerability and strength is showcased brilliantly in ‘Rent Free’,” a statement reads. “Her emotive delivery and relatable lyrics create a memorable listening experience that will deeply connect with those familiar with the lasting effects of a previous romantic relationship.”

Gyakie’s journey in the music industry started with her promising debut single ‘Love is Pretty’ in 2019. Since then, she has risen to international acclaim. An alumna of the Spotify EQUAL programme, she is behind anthems like the chart-topping hit ‘Forever,’ from her debut EP Seed, as well as ‘Never Like This’, ‘Whine’ and ‘Scar’ featuring UK rapper JBEE.

In June, British copyright collective PRS for Music announced Gyakie among its latest members.
