Nigeria’s Darey and SA’s Bonang Matheba to host Future Awards

“The Future Awards Africa is Africa’s biggest youth event,” says Darey who anchored the award ceremony back in 2009. “Consistently for 10 years they have celebrated efforts of youths across the continent. It’s an honour to be a part of this landmark celebration, and I am excited to be back on the TFAA stage!”

According to TFAA: “The hosts represent the best of young Africans from across the continent, and will be presenting the 10th year celebrations of TFAA in grand style.”

Young Africans see these nominees and winners and have been inspired over the past 10 years to act right, to get involved and to live their dreams to the fullest.”

Singer Darey comes to the hosting duties after he recently released ‘Naked’, his fourth studio album. He runs a music label and is frequently a host of events. His music industry peers take up four of the five positions in the Future Awards Africa Prize in Entertainment category, as Nigeria’s Yemi Alade and Olamide receive nominations alongside Tanzania’s Vanessa Mdee and South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest. Ugandan actress Anne Kansiime is the only non-musician nominated in the category.

The Future Awards Africa has been called the ‘Nobel Prize for Young Africans’, and the ‘most important youth awards’ by Forbes. It is a set of prizes given annually to celebrate and accelerate innovation, creativity and enterprise amongst young Africans aged 18 to 31. It has produced over 150 winners and over 1550 nominees since its first edition in 2006.

The 2015 Future Awards Africa holds Sunday 6 December at the Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria. Admission is strictly by invitation.
