Institute Français is inviting artists to submit applications for its new initiative titled Programme for Artists in Residency (PAIR), which is designed to encourage French host structures located in the Metropolitan France area and French overseas territories to welcome foreign artists.
The open call for projects is aimed at residence structures wishing to welcome artists and creators from Africa. It seeks to strengthen links between French and African artistic communities in many disciplines including visual arts, performing arts, literature, cinema, etc.
To apply for this scheme, the residency structure, in collaboration with the artist, submits an application file proposing a research and creation project which requires the artist to come in residence in France for a period of one to three months between October 2024 and December 2025.
The eligibility criteria make it possible to propose a harmonised system around good residential care practices, in particular the remuneration of the resident, the provision of accommodation and work spaces, as well as tailor-made artistic, administrative and technical support.
The winning structures are awarded support for the project calculated according to the country the artist comes from and the duration of the residency.
