Opportunities for musicians in Africa are few and far between. Whereas the developed world can boast countless institutions and programmes for musicians to further their careers, the same cannot be said for most African countries.

Opportunities for musicians and other professionals in the creative industry come in the form of workshops, training programmes, competitions, industry conferences, awards platforms, residencies, exchange programmes and mobility funds.

Our aim at Music In Africa is to publicise the aforementioned for our readers, many of whom are on the lookout for different avenues where they can expand their careers and knowledge.

In our news section, we publish on a regular basis calls for applications to various programmes, some of them capable of turning careers around. Some of these calls are based in Europe, the US and Asia, where African musicians, sound designers, producers and composers are invited to collaborate with and attain new knowledge from local artists. The exchange of ideas is priceless for anyone looking to bolster their professionalism and creativity.

Visit this page throughout June for regular updates on the opportunities available for African musicians.
