Pro Helvetia partners with ACCES 2019

Swiss arts and culture organisation Pro Helvetia, through its Johannesburg liaison office, has made it possible for four delegates to attend this year’s Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) in Accra, Ghana, from 28 to 30 November.

Pro Helvetia seeks to promote cultural exchange, develop and nurture long-term partnerships and support residencies in Southern Africa. The delegation that is travelling to ACCES 2019 comprises musician Matchume Zango (Mozambique), Show-me project manager Elisabeth Stoudmann (France), Pro Helvetia music programme manager Germaine Gamiet (South Africa) and musician and activist Roberto Hacaturyan (Switzerland).

Zango, Stoudmann and Gamiet will feature in the speed networking session where he will join Intl Starz founder Rose Green (US), Yuma Prod CEO Eric Bellamy (France), Bayimba Festival director Faisal Kiwewa (Uganda), Dženan ČOLPA (Serbia/Switzerland), Chocolate City Group executive vice president Aibee Abidoye (Nigeria) and Ditto Music regional manager Africa Wendy Verwey Bekker (South Africa). The discussion will take place at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences on Saturday 30 November at 12.30pm.

The ACCES networking programme is designed to accelerate exchange between delegates, to explore synergies and to build new partnerships. Delegates will take turns to meet the dynamic group of networkers, which will include speakers and other players. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Hacaturyan is part of the panel discussion titled Fostering Collaboration Between African and European Music Markets. The session is partnership between ACCES and Reeperbahn Festival that seeks to heighten business exchange and collaborations between artists and industry players working in Africa and Europe.

The session will be held at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences on Saturday 30 November at 2.30pm, The session is intended for industry participants and players to discuss ideas about how to further invest in the ongoing partnerships between the African and European music markets, and explore the educational, collaborative and performance opportunities available today.

The panelists will include artist manager Stefanie Schumann (Delicious Tunes, Germany), SAMRO Foundation managing director Andre Le Roux (South Africa), Asa Baako One Dance Music festival curator and programmer Okhiogbe Omonblanks Omonhinmin (Ghana), Lighthouse CEO Trond Tornes (Norway) and Afro x Pop founder Pamela Owusu-Brenyah (Germany).

About Pro Helvetia

Pro Helvetia is an organisation that is intended to promote artistic and cultural exchange between Switzerland and artists in different regions. The platform seeks to raise awareness of Swiss contemporary arts in the region through forging ties with local organisations and event organisers, develop and nurture long-term partnerships, initiate co-productions with artists from the region and organise residencies.
