South Africa-based Zimbabwean Afro-soul singer Berita will join Lira at the Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 7 March.
The announcement comes after the release of the ‘Jikizinto’ single off Berita’s upcoming album Songs in the Key of Love, which is available for pre-add on Apple Music.
“I am excited to be supporting Lira on this show, she is my inspiration,” Berita said. “I value her undeniable contribution to South African music and her quest to always deliver her music and live shows at the highest level.
“Since the last time we shared the stage, we have developed a sisterhood bond that I truly treasure. It’s an honour to be supporting her at the Lyric Theatre.”
Lira told Music In Africa that the event would be a memorable one.
“It’s great to be able to help another sister up, you know?” she said. “I think that’s important because she’s launching a lot of music and I think a lot of our audience overlap, so it’s a natural fit. Audience should expect a dose of great music, vibes and unforgettable entertainment. You need to come through, especially at the beginning of the year to get a good feeling of music and we really guarantee you a night to remember.”
Lira, who is spending much of her time in the US at the moment, said recently: “I’m steadily building a career in the US. My ultimate dream is to win a Grammy, and having experienced my first Grammy ceremony, I feel like the dream is attainable.
“I’m writing new music constantly and I’m working with some of California’s best producers. I look forward to sharing some of the new music with SA. People can expect their favourites, with some additions to songs they don’t usually hear. Be prepared to be inspired and to have a wonderful and memorable time.”
Tickets to the 7 March event are available here.
