Tracklib introduces royalty-free loops and one-shots with ‘Sounds’ feature

Tracklib allows producers a legal pathway to sample and use original music through its clearance platform featuring over 100 000 songs across 400 labels and publishers. 

Sounds is included for Premium ($13.99 per month) and Max ($19.99 per month) subscribers, who are part of Tracklib’s three subscription tiers, the last being Lite ($8.99). 

The company says the latest addition, following its earlier decision to eliminate licence fees for most plans to allow users clear an unlimited number of samples at no extra cost, “solidifies Tracklib as an entirely rounded platform.”

“This is a pivotal moment for Tracklib and our customers,” CEO Andreas Ahlenius said. “Not only can music makers access hundreds of thousands of incredible songs, but we’ve now entered the royalty-free sound space, making Tracklib the one-stop platform for music production.” 

“We maintain that music should remain a human process [and] everything you hear in our library has been created and curated with care by real musicians,” Tracklib chairman Andreas Liffgarden added. “It’s all about having the right sounds as opposed to the most sounds.”

Samples cleared through Tracklib have featured in songs by global stars including Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. The company also said that since the beginning of the year, the number of samples cleared through its service had tripled.

According to Tracklib’s State of Sampling Report published in 2022, nearly one in every five songs that appeared on the Billboard Top 100 Hits that year had been sampled from previously released tracks. 

“We have seen genre shifts, shifts in how artists utilise samples and who they pay homage to through their samples, and changes in how new technologies are utilised to share and discover samples,” the company said at the time.
