Burna Boy to headline Afro Nation Portugal 2023

Afrobeats star Burna Boy has been named as one of the first three headline acts for Afro Nation Portugal 2023 in Portimão’ from 28 to 30 June.
The other two headliners are American rapper 50 Cent and French-Senegalese hip hop sensation Booba. The three will lead an impressive line-up of artists that includes Nigerian breakthrough star Asake, Fireboy DML, the Nigerian famed for his extraordinary run of chart success with the smash hit ‘Peru’, French-Malian Afro-pop superstar Aya Nakamura, who is known for hits like ‘Djadja’, ‘Pookie’ and ‘Jolie Nana’. Nigeria’s Ayra Starr will be making her Afro Nation debut.
The party will also welcome some of the biggest acts from the South African amapiano scene at the Piano People stage. This year, amapiano heavyweights Scorpion Kings, Major League DJz and Uncle Waffles, alongside Musa Keys, Young Stunna, Daliwonga, DBN Gogo, Sha Sha, Moonchild Sanelly, Tyler ICU and many more, are expected “to strike Afro Nation Portugal hard.”
London-based Afrobeats collective The Compozers is back in 2023, while Kenyan four-piece band Sauti Sol will showcase their Afropop credentials.
Afro Nation Portugal follows the second edition of Afro Nation Ghana, which saw Meek Mill crown his momentous trip to Accra with a long-awaited headline set during ‘Detty December’.
Meanwhile, Afro Nation’s US debut, Afro Nation Miami, will be held on 27 and 28 May.
