Les meilleures chansons africaines de 2019 – partie 1

La playlist subdivisée en deux parties, réunit des tubes produits en 2019 dans les cinq régions géographiques de l’Afrique. Elle a été élaborée avec l’aide de ses équipes éditoriales régionales de Lagos (Nigeria), Dakar (Sénégal), Kinshasa (RDC), Nairobi (Kenya) et Johannesburg (Afrique du Sud).

Afrique de l’Ouest

L’Afrique de l’Ouest jouit toujours d’une grande audience sur le continent, ainsi qu’aux États-Unis et en Europe. Le succès de ses musiques a valu aux artistes des collaborations massives avec certains des plus grands noms de l’industrie musicale mondiale.

Le Nigérian Burna Boy est sans aucun doute le plus bel exemple de 2019. Auteur du hit « African Giant », il a remporté des distinctions aux BET Awards, Headies, MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) et Soundcity MVP Awards Festival. Il a également été nominé pour un Grammy Award, aux côtés de la diva béninoise Angélique Kidjo.

L’artiste ghanéen Stonebwoy qui a remporté le Nickelodeon Kids ‘Choice Award, a lui aussi brillé en 2019. Il a été désigné meilleur artiste masculin d’Afrique de l’Ouest aux African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMAs) à Dallas, au Texas. En avril dernier, il a signé un contrat avec Samsung Ghana.

Son compatriote, Sarkodie, a remporté le prix du meilleur flux international aux BET Hip Hop Awards, devant ses collègues africains Nasty C (Afrique du Sud) and Falz (Nigeria). Yemi Alade (Nigeria).

Yemi Alade (Nigéria) a également fait parler d’elle, en signant un contrat de licence avec Universal Music Africa en septembre et grâce à une nomination dans la catégorie Influenceur africain de l’année au E! Prix ​​du public en Californie.

Wizkid, Davido et Tiwa Savage ont également connu une excellente année 2019, avec la sortie de titres à succès. Le nigérian Davido a réalisé deux grandes collaborations, « Blow My Mind » avec Chris Brown et « Risky » avec DJ Popcaan de la Jamaïque, qui totalisaient respectivement plus de 34 et 9 millions de vues sur YouTube au moment de la rédaction de cet article.

Wizkid a réalisé un record cette saison. Il est devenu le premier artiste africain à atteindre 8 millions de streams mensuels sur Spotify. Il a fait mieux que le rappeur et chanteur congolais Maître Gims, qui avait atteint 7 millions en un mois. En outre, Wizkid a collaboré avec Beyoncé sur « Brown Skin Girl », qui a également été nominé aux Grammys.

En mai, Tiwa Savage a signé un contrat d’enregistrement avec Universal Music Group (UMG) en Californie. Sa musique sera diffusée à l’international via les canaux d’UMG dans plus de 60 pays à travers le monde.

La chanteuse franco-malienne Aya Nakamura a également marqué 2019 avec ses singles « Pookie », « The Dowry » et « Soldier », qui ont totalisé des centaines de millions de vues sur YouTube. En octobre, elle a remporté le prix du meilleur artiste féminin d’Afrique de l’Ouest aux AFRIMMA.

Le duo togolais Toofan a fait la fierté de son pays avec une nomination aux MTV EMA 2019. Son single à succès « OU LÉ », en featuring avec Jacob Desvarieux, a séduit le public d’Afrique francophone.

La chanteur sénégalais Wally Seck et l’ivoirien Safarel Obiang ont également passé une belle année avec le carton de leurs titres respectifs, « Yobante » et « Tchin Tchin ». Safarel a même remporté la Primud d’Or en Côte d’Ivoire.

Afrique du Sud

Dans la partie australe du continent, l’industrie musicale sud-africaine a été particuièrement effervescente. La rappeuse Sho Madjozi a connu un succès mondial avec sa chanson « John Cena », inspirée par le célèbre lutteur professionnel. En juin, elle a remporté deux prix prestigieux : Artiste de l’année et Artiste féminine de l’année aux South African Music Awards (SAMAs). Le même mois, elle a triomphé dans la catégorie Best New International Act (Viewers ‘Choice) aux BET Awards 2019.

Toujours en Afrique du Sud, Samething Soweto a été le premier artiste local à avoir des sorties simultanées n°1 sur les charts Singles et Album d’Apple Music, avec son titre « Akulaleki » et son opus Isphithiphithi.

Les artistes sud-africains AKA, Cassper Nyovest et Nasty C qui ont également passé une belle année 2019, figurent eux-aussi dans cette playlist.

Au Zimbabwe, le chanteur de dancehall Winky D et l’artiste Afropop Jah Prayzah ont respectivement sorti « MuGarden » et « Kunerima » qui ont atteint plus de 1,5 million de vues sur YouTube. Sampa the Great et B1 en Zambie, ont eux-aussi brillé cette saison.
