These newly announced artists will be joining performers already scheduled for the Ticketpro Dome event: Alikiba, Babes Wodumo, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Ycee and Yemi Alade.

All four artists have been in the news this year for various reasons. Diamond has recently collaborated with the Nigerian duo P-Square on the song ‘Kidogo’, South African upcoming rapper Emtee was nominated for a BET award earlier in the year, Patoranking released his debut album God Over Everything in August, and Kwesta released a new single titled ‘Mayibabo’ which featured talented DJ Maphorisa and others. He also featured on Kid X video for his hit song ‘iPati’.

This year the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) will celebrate African talent across 18 award categories, including Best Male, Best Female, Listener’s Choice and Best Group. The contribution of artists from Portuguese and French-speaking Africa is recognised in the Best Lusophone and Best Francophone categories. Additional categories include the Africa Re-Imagined Award and Personality of the Year.

One of the best organized music awards events in Africa, the MAMAs recognises and rewards musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on African music and youth culture over the previous year. The ceremony will feature performances from African and international artists along with the show’s signature cross-genre and cross-border collaborations.

The MAMAs are brought by Joburg Tourism in partnership with Absolut Vodka and Google and in association with MTN and DStv.

Tickets are on sale on www.ticketpros.co.za and are now priced at ZAR 250 ($19) (standing only) and ZAR 300 ($22) (bleachers).
