Drake shoots video for Wizkid collabo ‘One Dance’ in SA

The song, a collaboration with Nigeria’s Wizkid, lit up the internet when the ‘Find Your Love’ singer tweeted a link announcing its release a few months ago. Since then the song has found acceptance and airplay on radios across Africa, especially in Wizkid’s home country.

It was initially unclear whether the song would receive a video treatment. Now Trace TV has reported that Drake travelled to South Africa to shoot a music video for the song. The music channel speculated that Drake was on set for the shoot, noting that South Africa “will perfectly match the Afro-Jamaican beats of the track,” adding that, “you can hear British singer Kyla and Nigerian artist Wizkid on it [the song ‘One Dance’]. Even though we don’t know if these two will appear in the video, let’s hope South Africa has been chosen as the meeting point for the three artists coming from different parts of the world.”

On Instagram, Drake posted a photo of dance ensemble Material Culture from South Africa. He has also been seen in photos taken with fans. He also gave a speech at South Africa’s Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory in Johannesburg.

The song ‘One Dance’ is off Drake’s latest album Views. The song has Afro-pop influences and has been successful in the US charts. Wizkid, who is both featured and credited as producer on the song, was nominated again at this year’s BET Awards in the USA, and has collaborated with US-based Swizz Beats in an unreleased song. He can also be heard and seen in the music video for ‘Mama Cita’, a song by British act Tinie Tempah.
