Contemporary Dance Night (CDN) is inviting choreographers from Egypt, Europe, the US and the Arab region to submit applications for a two-month residency programme in Cairo, Egypt.
CDN is an independent contemporary dance event that aims to develop and grow the art form in Egypt. The event features a series of live dance pieces, videos, seminars, workshops and other activities. The team at CDN believes that contemporary dance is a means for self-expression within the current challenging political, social, and cultural context and is inviting choreographers who share the same view to submit their concepts/creations for consideration.
Six to eight artists will be selected for the residency after which they will share their new research/creation at CDN 2024, which will take place in Cairo, Alexandria and Upper Egypt between early October and mid-December 2024.
Egyptian choreographers will receive a modest production grant to realize these productions.
For all foreign choreographers not residing in Cairo, all costs are covered including travel expenses, accommodation, rehearsal space and pocket money during the residency period. A small compensation fee might also be provided according to the corresponding entity supporting the artist.
Interested applicants should read the guidelines here in English before registering here by 30 April.
Read the application form template guidelines here for clarification. Selected artists will be announced here in May.
