Artists are invited to submit applications for a two-day workshop in Bloemfontein, South Africa, on 4 and 5 November 2023.
The classes, titled String Flair and Indie Artist, are designed to inspire music enthusiasts, aspiring artists, and creative minds in Bloemfontein. They seek to celebrate the guitar as a versatile instrument and empower indie artists by offering them a platform for learning, networking and artistic growth.
String Flair workshop
The Flair Workshop will be hosted by Cornelius Olifant, who will share his personal journey as a guitarist, creating an atmosphere where both seasoned players and beginners can discover the beauty of this instrument. Moreover, Olifant will introduce exciting guitar lessons. His transition from being an instrumentalist to a solo artist is a testament to the transformative power of music.
Indie Artist workshop
The Indie Artist Workshop is dedicated to nurturing local indie musicians and producers. Participants will gain essential insights, resources and connections vital for advancing their music career. The workshop is designed for artists at all stages, whether they are preparing for their first music release or looking to elevate their existing career. Renowned speakers, including Thabo Phahlane (Paradise Africa label manager), Angelo Mockie (Angelo Mockie Productions director and founder) and Michael Rumbi (artist), will share their expertise and insights.
The workshops are organised by AHADI, a platform dedicated to nurturing and empowering creatives in their artistic journeys while cultivating sustainable creative communities.
“Our mission is to provide a platform for artists to develop their craft and foster a thriving creative infrastructure,” AHADI said. “Through curated shows and initiatives like The AHADI Experience, we showcase the best upcoming talent in dance, poetry, live music, fashion, and more. Our series has gained popularity, with five successful editions held so far, including collaborations with acclaimed artists and support from Concerts SA, SAMRO and the Royal Norwegian Embassy.”
