The four-minute video is a celebration of the singer’s 20 years in the music industry. Available on YouTube, the video features Nigerian actor Richard Mofe-Damijo who narrates 2Baba’s career when he joined Lagos-based group Plantashun Boiz.

“This year makes it 20 years since 2Baba scored his first hit as a member of the now-defunct Plantashun Boiz with their debut single ‘Knock Me Off’ in 1999,” 2Baba’s management said. “To celebrate this illustrious run in music, a series of activities, projects and events for the year including a book, a documentary, an album, merchandises, fete, fundraiser, concert and parties have been lined up.”

2Baba thanked his fans for the support at an event dubbed An evening with 2Baba: “I’m grateful, 20 years a king, one love religion. Thank you Nigeria and Africa for supporting African music. Without you there will be no me. See me as your brother.

“Everybody knows that it is one love that will solve humanity’s problems. God has created us and given us a beautiful place. It is now left for humanity to turn this place to heaven. If you believe, no dream is too big. Bless up Femi Otedola, we’ll be doing our own gently as we come behind. God bless you for your generosity, inspiration and love.”

At that same event, the singer also premiered a new single titled ‘Frenemies’ featuring fellow singer Waje. Produced by Richie, the single is a fusion of reggae and pop.

The video for the song is available for streaming on YouTube and was seating on more than 154 000 views at the time of writing.

In the song, 2Baba sings: Oh Lord save me from frenemies/Make nothing come they join our destiny/Make nothing make me deal with their fallacies.
