All Africa Music Awards announce 2015 hosts

DNG is well known as a hype man and on air personality in East Africa. He is also a model, singer and host of a dance show on Kenyan television. His co-host Eliam is an actress and model. She’s particularly famous for starring in ‘Dr Boris’, a television series.

While Eliam and DNG anchor the main event, Nigerian presenter and television personality Denrele Edun will be at the helm of red carpet proceedings. Edun shares hosting of the red carpet duties with his compatriot presenter Maria Okanrende and Cameroonian communications expert Estelle Ahonda.

As part of the event, which consists of mainly performances and awarding nominees, politician and former governor of Lagos state Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be receiving a special ‘Pillar of Art and Culture in Africa’.

According to AFRIMA, Tinubu is ‘known to have stimulated conversations among Africans and between Africa and the rest of the globe about the potentials and values of the African culture and artistic legacy for the purpose of creating jobs, reducing poverty, inspiring social change and development, calling attention of world leaders to Africa and promoting the positive image of Africa to the world for global competitiveness.

‘A staunch supporter of arts, culture and creatives initiatives for social change for decades. He supported “Fela on Broadway” to be staged for the first time in Africa in Lagos in 2011.’

Tinubu, who was selected from ‘a pool of hundreds of illustrious sons and daughters of Africa’, has since accepted the award. ‘I accept this honour and look forward to the award,’ he wrote in an acceptance letter. ‘I identify with the mandate of AFRIMA working through the instrumentality of the African Union to showcase, preserve and globalise Africa’s rich heritage in the aspects of music and culture.’

AFRIMA 2015 will be broadcast across the world on 15 November, with a surfeit of Africa’s most respected musicians attending, performing and receiving awards.
