Call for proposals: Goethe-Institut Project Space (GPS) Grant

The much-needed fund will support work realized all over South Africa ranging from workshops to exhibitions, events and performances; including visual art, literature, film, music, dance and theatre projects. It forms part of the Goethe-Institut’s programme that promotes intercultural engagement through fostering dialogue and exchange in the arts. 

GPS is envisioned as a non-commercial, artist-centered free platform, designed to support not only artists and their projects, but also the many structures, platforms and festivals that currently exist and need partnerships of this nature in order to continue their work.

If awarded, a GPS grant would support both the hosting space and the project itself. The initiative expands the institute’s support to smaller spaces situated outside the main metropolitan centers. Grant recipients will also be able to produce their work locally with a partner of their choice.

The Goethe-Institut is known worldwide for promoting intercultural engagement through fostering dialogue and exchange in the arts.

Who can apply

Musicians, dancers, actors, artists, performers, curators, choreographers, writers, composers and directors are free to apply for this programme.

Worth noting is that no part of the proposal will be returned, unless specifically requested before the submission deadline in writing and sent with a self-addressed envelope with a sufficient number of postage stamps.
