American star Future to headline the MAMAs

American star Future is set to perform at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa on 22 October.
Real name, Navyvadius Cash, Future joins previously announced top African star performers such as Diamond, Emtee, Kwesta, Patoranking, Alikiba, Babes Wodumo, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, YCee and Yemi Alade.
After his performance at the MAMAs, Future will play a special live concert as bonus for fans. He will take fans through his recording career featuring such favourites as ‘Turn on the Lights’, ‘Same Damn Time’ and ‘Stick Talk’.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Future is known for his signature melodic flow and authentic street sound. The rapper gained fame through a series of classic mixtapes leading to his debut single, ‘Tony Montana.’ He has also released albums namely, Pluto, Honest, DS2 and Evol.
Future completed his first, 22-date nationwide tour and went on to win the Best Group category with Drake at the BET Awards 2016 for their collaboration, ‘Jumpman’. He scored 10 nominations at the same event, and performed ‘Commas’ live at the MTV VMAs in New York.
Future has been nominated for the Best Hip Hop award at the 2016 MTV EMAs, which will take place on 6 November. That event will also see a number of African nominees.
Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa said, “Future has an amazing fan following in Africa and we are delighted that he will make his African performance debut on the MAMA 2016 stage in Johannesburg on 22 October.”
Tickets for the awards are on sale for ZAR 250 ($19) (standing only), and ZAR 300 ($22) (bleachers) via www.ticketpros.co.za, and at Ticketpro retail outlets or dealers.
