Ghanaian rapper Zed Ay Kay has released a new song titled ‘Mitsi’, available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms

M3nsa and Zed Ay Kay.

The record, which guests veteran singer-songwriter and producer M3nsa, translates from Fante as “I hear”, unfolding as an affirmation of unwavering romantic love.

“‘Mitsi’ resonates with a heartfelt yearning, yet its beat, marked by an insistent and warmly danceable rhythm, captures a paradoxical mix of resignation and hope,” a statement reads.

“It is a pure love song, which is not easy to find in our space, especially because it is performed by two male artists who expose honesty and vulnerability. The song addresses intense emotions but maintains a modest and breezy tone. It resembles more of a playful crush anthem rather than a profound declaration of eternal love.”

Zed Ay Kay told Music In Africa that the project started in 2016 with a different producer, but setbacks led to M3nsa joining to reproduce and feature on the song. He added that the collaboration was effortless due to an existing relationship, and that the goal was to create a timeless record, resulting in a fusion of highlife, electronic, and alté sounds with a distinctive groove.

Formerly of the music duo Replay, Zed Ay Kay released his debut album, the 14-track Versatility, in 2021, a project that sought to exhibit his talent as a rapper with a keen ear for melody. Zed Ay Kay is also locally popular for his work with Ras Kuuku on ‘Nah Give Up’ and highlife legend Felix Owusu on ‘Stop My Love’.
