Due to having one of the busiest schedules in showbiz, including recently being a judge on the South African version of the reality show The Voice, Lira is finally back on the Bassline stage with a full band performing all her favourite hits for her fans, as well as track from her latest album Born Free, the follow-up to Rise Again (2013) and 2011’s Return To Love.
2016 has been a busy year for Lira so far. Besides her work on The Voice, her very own seven-part documentary series, title Lira: Dream Chaser, which details the release and tour in support of the Rise Again album in North America, was licensed to Fox Global and began screening on DStv throughout Africa on 31 March. Global cosmetics giant Bobbi Brown also recently revealed Lira as their first African ambassador, while global whiskey brand Johnnie Walker added her to their global list of iconic ‘JoyWalkers’.
With a career now spanning over 13 years, with six studio albums, three live DVDs, an autobiography, countless TV adverts, a movie and more presenting opportunities than we can remember, Lira is a household name with the South African public. Flawless on stage, stunningly beautiful, professional and always on point in her performance, she is a spectacular artiste to experience live.
The upcoming event is the latest installment in the concert series hosted by local radio show Kaya FM, officially titled Kaya FM Presents Live at the Bassline. Over the past two years the event has hosted many of the biggest names in South African music, often with a particular focus on the country’s female talent. In the past it has hosted acts such as Simphiwe Dana in April 2015, Maleh and Zamajobe in August 2015, Ringo Madlingozi in November 2015, Zahara and The Muffinz in February this year and recent SAMA winner Nathi and Vusi Nova in March. Other stars to be hosted by Kaya FM at the Bassline include Tribute ‘Birdie’ Mboweni, Thandiswa Mazwai, Zonke and The Soil, who have all helped turn this one night of the month into a phenomenal success.
Lira’s upcoming performance at the Bassline will follow her date on stage at the final night of the five-day Symphony in Blue at Winnie’s in Sandton, Johannesburg on 18 June.
Lira is one of the country’s best musical talents and Kaya FM, a brand synonymous with platforming only the best in musical talent, is pleased to be associated with showcasing what promises to be a great performance. The Bassline, celebrating 22 years in music, is committed on every level to ensuring safe parking and security as well as reducing ticket prices while still bringing the best in music to the public.
Don’t miss out on this star’s return to the Bassline. Tickets are R200 and available now from Webtickets.
