Spotify has introduced integrations with Rekordbox, Serato and Djay, enabling Premium subscribers to access their libraries and playlists directly through the DJ software.

The move marks Spotify’s return to third-party DJ app support, which it discontinued in 2020.

The streaming platform confirmed the development on 25 September, with AlphaTheta’s Rekordbox, Algoriddim’s Djay and Serato, majority-owned by Canadian company Tiny, also issuing statements.

The integrations apply to desktop software and are currently available in 51 markets, including the US, Canada, most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Japan. Countries in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East are not included in the rollout.

The move marks Spotify’s return to third-party DJ app support, which it discontinued in 2020. Since then, DJ platforms have reached agreements with rival services such as Apple Music. Algoriddim, for example, launched a Vision Pro version of Djay in February 2024, while Rekordbox and Serato added Apple Music support in March 2025.

The integrations come as streaming platforms compete to attract and retain subscribers amid slowing growth in the US Spotify has been adding new features to its Premium tier, including lossless audio introduced earlier in September and customisable transitions and effects rolled out in August.

Industry observers note that Spotify’s recent updates resemble a long-rumoured “Super-Premium” plan, which could lead to price adjustments in the future.
